No Spanish home is without mantecados on Christmas! Dating back to the 16th century, these classic crumble cakes are light but certainly carry a rich, unique flavor!
Directions & Ingredients
- Mix together 1 cup of soft butter and 1 cup of brown sugar until very smooth
- Add 2 eggs yolks to the mix. You can add some lemon juice, cinnamon, vanilla extract – anything you want in your cookies! Mix everything together well.
- Add 2 cups of flour until the mix is thick and smooth – feel free to add chocolate chips, almonds or whatever you can think of!
- Scoop dough with a spoon and make cookie shaped balls of any size you prefer. Dip the balls into a bowl of beaten egg and place on a cookie sheet
- Place in the oven at 325 degrees (160) for 20 minutes. Enjoy!
ENJOY!
